Remember the Past.
Recognize the Present.
Revitalize for the Future.
A Campaign to Revive the PRIDE: Cascades Park is an unprecedented endeavor to restore the historic splendor of Cascades Park. It will seek the support of the entire Jackson community; local, state and federal governments; clubs and civic organizations; and the countless individuals and families who call Jackson home.
Organized by the independent Cascades Park Foundation and its Cascades PRIDE Committee, the collaborative efforts of the community will ensure that the funds needed to complete the projects described in the Cascades Park Master Plan will be raised within the next five years. A successful campaign will guarantee that both the visitors of today and those who come tomorrow will enjoy the beauty and charm of Cascades Park the way its founder, William Sparks, envisioned 75 years ago.
-
Protect
Utilize environmental stewardship and low-impact development to preserve open spaces and water areas that are the natural habitats of hundreds of species of plants and animals.
Remove invasive vegetation and alien plant life to encourage the growth of plant species that are native to the area. -
Renew
Perform extensive structural, mechanical and electrical overhauls on Cascade Falls unlike any ever done before to greatly enhance their functionality.
Clean the lagoons and waterways to remove algae and soil build-ups.
Dredge and deepen waterways, allowing Brown Trout and other species of wildlife to thrive in a fresh environment. -
Improve
Demolish the existing Amphitheatre and 'wall' to make way for a new Cascades Amphitheatre that features theatre-quality acoustics, sound and lighting.
Place a historically appropriate gateway and plaza at the entrance to the Paredo pathway, which will be resurfaced and will feature 1930s-style benches along the trail. -
Develop
Design a 5,000-square-foot Interpretive Visitors Center to house the new Cascades Park Museum, education programs and equipment rentals all year-round.
Build the Edu-quarium-an unobtrusive 'viewing chamber' underneath the surface of the water that puts on-lookers eye-to-eye with fish, turtles and diving ducks allowing them to witness a complex, natural aquatic ecosystem.
Create interactive splash pools at existing playgrounds that feature a variety of water jets, sprays and bubblers for children to enjoy. -
Expand
Relocate the existing driving range to provide more open space for the annual Civil War Muster and field activities.
Improve restrooms, sidewalks and parking facilities at the Cascades Rotary Bandshell.
Add numerous hardscapes throughout the Park, including basketball, tennis, and in-line hockey courts along with a skate park.
